Our first USA Board Member, Ms. Cherie Wilshire traveled all the way from Washington USA to Uganda on the 5th of February, 2020.
The major reason for her visit was to check on us and also see by herself how the 3 programs and projects of Cherie Wilshire Foundation have impacted the communities we serve.
The warm welcome.
She was received by our Ugandan board team of Ms. Nakamanyi Jacent (CEO Uganda Board), Mr. Tumusiime Edison (Education support officer), and Mr. Musamba Michael (Programs Manager) at Entebbe International Airport. The guest shuttled to the Cherie Wilshire Foundation head office in Nabbingo from where she would head for other parts of the country.
While in Uganda, she met our Ugandan Board of Directors and together we had our very first combined Board Meeting. Representing the US Board, Ms. Cherie joined the Ugandan team for discussions to galvanize operations in Uganda.
The Board meeting
The Board meeting chaired by Mr. Walulya Fredrick, the Board Chairperson of the CWF – Uganda Chapter centered on reporting our impact for all the time we have been in operation and laying strategies that can ensure the continued sustainability of our programs and projects.
Interaction with the local community and
On the 2nd day, we got a chance to interact with the local people in the different places we visited in Nabbingo, Masaka, and Kampala. Ms. Cherie was overwhelmed with the amount of pain and difficulty that some people go through on a daily basis.
She was inspired that change is really possible and that every amount of money given from the US, makes a real difference to the lives of people in need around Uganda, having seen it first-hand and also through our 2019 Annual report and other individual project reports.
